Halloween weekend has arrived ? and holy moly I’m excited!Overall I’m excited to have a pretty laid back weekend, but I HAVE to dress up. Gotta do it. Lucky for me, I have found an awesome Halloween parties AND some more chill options for the rest of the weekend 🙂 SO, here are some cool illustrations by one of my favorite artists, Pat Perry, and some ideas for things to do with your Halloween in Philly this weekend.
Have you been looking for a place to wear your costume Friday night? Do you love dancing in places that aren’t old city night clubs? ME TOO! That’s why I was so excited to hear my friend DJ Sylo was hosting a Halloween party with a few other artists and performers. What better way to celebrate Halloween in Philly than at a new venue dancing the night away with a bunch of cool people?
Here’s what they had to say about the event:
Fresh off of a special summer [afropunk, Japan, okayafrica DC], Underdog is traveling to meet us in the Spirit Realm. Expect movement. Tropical/ancestral vibrations alongside glimpses of the future. Check that soundcloud for more.
A summer of growth and evolution! The packed-to-capacity Dolphin nights were explosive, a marker of a more adventourus and daring DJ style from DJ SYLO. Expect big tracks and soulful spirit excursions.
with MANY SPECIAL GUESTS including: Gabriel Wolf | soundcloud + Dahi Divine | soundcloud + Capoeira by Martell & Ehcapoeira + Percussion by Young Lions + Tarot Card readings by Makenzie Flynn + Body Work by Michelle Harris + Phobymo Photography & Pop Up Polaroid on deck for photos
Costumes strongly encouraged.

Costume Party at Silk City
If you are not so into trying out the new venue I mentioned above, Silk City is also having a costume party tonight. They always have some good DJs around and I hear there will be some specials on drinks throughout the night – no specifics though. Definitely another good option if you are trying to celebrate adult-style Halloween in Philly.

My goal to try every pizza in Philly got ruined pretty early on when I fell in love with the square pizza from Stogie Joe’s on Passyunk. I love the simple upside down pizza (cheese first, sauce on top) so much. BUT – Snap Pizza has come up so many times that I have to give it a chance. They only list the menu for two of their three locations on the site (neither of them being Philly) so fingers crossed that they have both the custom and the signature pizzas at the Philly location! I am looking to build my own AND get a taste of that Good Egg pizza too… Or maybe the Mexique….or the Kennett Square. Basically just give me all of them and I’ll be good.
HOURS: Sun-Thur 11am-9pm + Fri-Sat 11am-10pm

Hiking the Wissahickon
The bizzare weather is continuing this weekend. The low is in the 30’s Friday night but Saturday is supposed to be sunny and beautiful! I am going to take advantage and go for a hike at the Wissahickon. If you’ve never been, it’s a super easy hiking spot that is crazy close to the city. I’m looking forward to stretching my legs and taking a walk on the tiny finger bridge 🙂
HOURS: You decide, I recommend daylight hours. Especially if you’ve never been.
