I have officially hit gift season. I feel like the second Thanksgiving is over each year, I have that Oh Shit moment where I shift in to crisis mode. I can think of a million gifts for everyone in my life all year long…until Christmas rolls around. My preference is to make people things, it always has been. Snow-globes, ornaments, stuffed animals..you name it and I’ve made it. Now that my siblings are teens, those gifts don’t really seem to fit the bill anymore. Plus…let’s be honest, crafting is no longer a cheap pass-time!
There are some people that are harder for me to buy for than others, and my brothers definitely top that list, they are 13 and 14. I’ve decided this is the age range where the games/toys/magic tricks etc. are no longer cool but they aren’t old enough for that neat nostalgic tie to things yet either. Thus, they are the hardest to gift on my list.
I pulled together a gift guide of knick-knacks and things that I think would be fun for everyone to hang out and play/play with. Some of my favorites are shown above and there are even more you can check out on pinterest. There’s some cool magnetic silly putty, strawberries that supposedly grow to the size of an apple, a DIY Dinosaur terrarium (because dinosaur), some super spicy gummy bears, and a crazy rocks that liquifies when you hold it. I’d say it’s a pretty sweet selection, an I’m pretty sure I won’t walk in with the same gift as Great Aunt Lucy 😉
