Weekend Plans: Philly 10/21/2016

Yay it’s Friday! I don’t know about you guys but this week was definitely one that needed to end for me. For me, this weekend in Philly is going to be a little bit fancy and also SUPER nerdy.

A couple of my good friends are getting married this afternoon and it’s a black tie wedding *ooOOoooOooooooooOOoOoooOo, so fancy!* I’ll be spending the afternoon in Allentown for the ceremony and heading back to Philly for party time in the evening. I am super excited to dress up with everyone. How often do you see all your guys in tuxes?? You can check out my look inspiration over here on pinterest and I’ll be sure to share in my instagram stories too :).

The last wedding we were all at was a bit less formal and soooo fun too!

All the gals minus the bride :)

All the gals minus the bride 🙂

The beauty of a Friday wedding is I have ALL WEEKEND to do things after the wedding! That’s pretty exciting because there’s an event happening Saturday that I’ve been trying to attend for about 4 years and it has never worked out. More about that and a few other things happening this weekend in Philly coming up.

Weekend Plans: Philly 10/07/2016

Hello and welcome to Philly, Fall! I am looking forward to taking serious advantage of some of the fall activities in and around Philly this weekend. My primary goal is to get a pumpkin, so fingers crossed that it doesn’t rain.

I have some big ambitions for turning my bedroom into a plant sanctuary for the winter months when my back patio is out of commission. I’m not positive I am going to start the project this weekend because it’s a pretty big undertaking. A large part of it is to create floor-to-ceiling shelves on one wall. Because I work from home, I like to get out of the house as much as possible on the weekends and at night, but the visions I have of what the shelves of jungly-goodness would be like to wake up to in the morning may be enough to keep me indoors for a bit. Aside from that, I have some friend-dates lined up with people I haven’t gotten to spend much time with lately and I am pretty excited!

One of my goals this year is to really enjoy the season that I am in and to keep the seasonal griping to a minimum (i.e. omg it’s so hot where tf is winter!?) I’ve strayed a few times, but for the most part it is going well. I think I’m also enjoying everything a little bit more 🙂 The best way to do that is to take part in all the fun activities that only happen during the season you are in. I am super excited for the fall activities that involve getting out in the crisp air.

For that reason I am particularly excited about the recent seasonal switch in weather. I have been going on my daily runs during my lunch break during the week because the temperature is just right and I am getting my fire pit ready on the back patio – it’s s’more-makin time. The in-between seasons are so great because the extreme temps tend to hold off, and there are so many fall activities that are outside! Click through to see some of the spots that I’m planning on checking out this weekend in honor of Fall finally being here.

Neuschwanstein Castle

While I’m chillin I’ll be thinkin about this castle

Man-oh-man am I looking forward to the weekend! There are tons of plans to be made in Philly this weekend, but I am looking forward to a laid back couple of days 🙂 Earlier this week I slipped on the slick part of a cross walk on my run. At that moment, I realized that I am getting old. I literally laid in the street for a solid 3 minutes because I couldn’t move lol. I had to assess all my parts to make sure everything was ok. Luckily I’m just a little bruised and stiff. Needless to say, my body is in need of some solid rest and a nice tub soak, I think I’ll even give my Friday night bath track a listen. Sunday I’ve got plans for brunch with a friend and her parents and I have a couple girl’s nights on the calendar that I am pretty excited about! Read on to see where I’ll be brunching in Philly this weekend.

I love early fall in Philly! There are still tons of outdoor beer gardens set up and lots of outdoor activities without so much of the sweat and sun burn. Although, we haven’t had too much of a break from the heat so far, lol. Any-who, my main goal going into this weekend is to get out of the house a ton. I want to take advantage of the super comfortable temperatures and sunshine we are supposed to be getting!

Saturday morning I have a bridal shower to go to somewhere in New Jersey. I def need to figure out something to wear…like now. Realistically I will end up trying on 4 dif outfits on Saturday am only to put on the same dress that I wear to 90% of the events I go to 🙂 I tend to er on the side of caution at these type of events. I like to be too dressed up vs. too casual. My mom burned that into my brain as a child by making me wear my Easter dress on plane trips. That said, the Bridal shower is only a small part of my weekend & I have big plans for what to do with the rest! Read on to check out some of the events and activities I’m aiming to hit up.

Raw Artists Philly 2016

I recently had a chance to spend the evening with tons of Philly talent at an event hosted by RAW Artists Philly. RAW Artists has a pretty cool mission – support for artists, by artists. More importantly they give artists who are just starting out (everyone is in the first ten years of their artistic career) an outlet to show their work to people who may not have an opportunity to experience it otherwise. How cool is that?!

National Anthem: 4th of July Playlist

It can be tough to see the good in our country right now when everywhere you turn you see how much needs to change. It seems like the current political landscape called out the racism, xenophobia, and general hatred of anything different that many thought we had moved beyond and then amplified it for personal gain. I am disappointed in so many ways at the hatred and lack of respect for our neighbors that I see far more clearly than I ever have before.

That said, we are lucky in so many ways to live here. Do we have a long way to go? Yes. Have we regressed in recent years? Absolutely. Should we, or have we, given up? No. And that’s what I love about our generation. We are working toward creating something better for ourselves, but also for future generations. As much as people like to say millenials are self-absorbed and entitled, our actions say differently. We are working toward creating something for coming generations to build on.

Take this day to enjoy our freedoms and spread the joy and love that inspires others to do the same. Every smile and act of kindness makes a difference and we can all strive to be the light that brightens someone else’s bad day.
